With regards to the Somerset Levels and Moors, the spillway at Hook Bridge on the River Tone is expected to run, however this depends on rainfall totals and is completely normal for the winter period.
Following our discussions with the IDB (Internal Drainage Board) all pumping stations, with the exception of Stanmoor, are going to winter levels (as of this morning). We expect spillways on the River Parrett to run over the next 24hours and are operating Monks Leaze to reduce levels upstream. Once spillways run, we will close Monks Leaze. Again, this is completely normal for the winter period.
As part of the extensive asset repairs programme, we have been out on the ground making our defences more robust and resilient ahead of winter. If needed we have robust contingency plans in place, including dumpy bags and temporary defences.
We are continuing to monitor river levels closely and are working alongside partners.
